Another reason to go to California: British stuff

Okay, I know what you are thinking: "British stuff on the West Coast...have you lost your mind?!" Well, here's just another reason to move Cali up on my list!

RMS Queen Mary in Long Beach. It's no secret that I am fascinated with old, British things and despite my protests, the "haunted" ship thing kind of intrigues me.

But what really sold me? A recent conversation with my mom that revealed my Grandmother immigrated to the US via the Queen Mary in 1946! Might not mean much to others but I think it's pretty cool and cannot wait to book a trip.

Who's coming with me? :)

ASPCA

Today I took a drive to the ASPCA animal shelter in Brockton. Every few months or so they do a fundraiser to help supplement the cost of running the shelter.

Being as I have two rescue pets now (and a third that I rescued in high school and lost last year), the ASPCA has a special place in my heart. Today They had a book/bake sale.

Of course, I have ulterior motives besides buying books: playing with the shelter animals!

I posted a pic of my favorite. Her name is Villa :)

If you plan to adopt a pet, go with an animal shelter!

Boston Sunset on a Fall Day

After a particularly hectic Monday, I returned to to MBTA station in  mediocre mood....until I looked up at the sky and saw a gorgeous sunset in the works. Since my apartment (and the T) are roughly only a five minutes drive, I was inspired to race the clock and go take some pictures of the sunset. What follows are my feeble attempts at photography that I hope to improve over time! enjoy :)

This is my favorite...I wish it had come out clearer
City skyline with a plane landing at Logan

clearly I need to do further research on manual settings

D-Day

For those of you following my coffee journey, Sunday marked D-Day: decaf day.

So far, the torture caused by this change has been only mild to moderately uncomfortable. Sunday I just felt very tired and out of sorts. Today, I have a moderate migraine (migraine = in pain, but trying to still function). Contemplating heading out early to go home and lay down...we'll see.

PS - decided to buy cookies at Starbucks for an afternoon sugar push. One was a cat an the other an owl. I took the photo *after* eating the first cookie:
